Animal photographer, Hannele Lahti, began the  Pop-Up Studio Sessions in 2016 with the mission to give back to the region’s rescue community through photography. So far she has photographed 200+ pets and raised over $10K for homeless animals.

Session Basics

What comes with the session fee?  

The $199 session fee includes: a 20 minute photo session on our studio background (white or black) for one pet,* up to 6 watermarked proof images, private online gallery and 1 printable digital file OR $100 to spend on anything in our product line.

50% of the session fee is donated to local rescue organizations.

*Multiple pets? Please book 2 sessions, back to back.  


My dog is afraid of thunder and lightning. Will this be a positive experience for him/her? 

If your dog is anxious or afraid of thunder and lightning, we do not recommend bringing them to this event due to our flash lighting system. Instead, we recommend our outdoor lifestyle sessions


When will the next Studio Session take place and where? 

We are currently on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic but are looking forward to starting up again soon. Join our mailing list for announcements.


Do I have a choice of the background color?

No. We only use one color per event so we can spend all of our time photographing your dog. Each pop-up will be themed by the color of the backdrop–typically white or black.

The Session

How can I prepare my pet for the session? 

Dogs: Teaching and practicing sit and stay commands with your dog may be the most beneficial thing you can do to prepare them for the photo shoot. It is also a good idea to exercise your pup thoroughly beforehand so they are not at their peak energy level during the shoot. If your dog needs grooming, I recommend doing that during the week leading up to the event. A good bath the night before works well too.

Cats: As a cat owner, you probably know full well that cats do as cats do. I'll do my best to capture their attention with toys and possibly a little catnip. :)  Grooming them the night before and bringing along a brush and a favorite toy or treat would be advisable. 


Can I be in the room during the session?

Yes, of course.


Can I be in the photo?

Due to time constraints of this event, we will be focused on capturing the best possible portrait of your pet. Once we get that, you are more than welcome to hop in for a shot or two. 


What if my pet misbehaves during the event? 

We will make every effort to make your pet feel safe and at ease during the photo shoot. However, some pets are simply not comfortable in this active, flashy setting. If I feel your pet is unduly stressed by the environment it may be necessary to end the session early. 

If your pet becomes a danger to himself or others during the photo shoot, we will end the session immediately. The safety of you, your pet and my staff is of upmost importance. 

 

 What if you don't get any photos of my pet?

So far, we have had a 100% success rate! However, since we are at the mercy of a limited session time, please understand that our success is not guaranteed. 


What if I can’t make it to my session?

Please let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to make it to your session. The session fee is non-refundable. However, you are welcome to transfer your time slot to a friend or transfer it to our next event, please just let us know.  

 

What if the event is canceled?

If we have to cancel the event, you will have two options:

  • You may apply the amount paid to another service we offer. 
  • You may request a full refund.

After the Session

What types of prints and products do you offer? 

Studio Session participants will have to option to order additional prints or products a la carte direct from their web gallery. We offer fine art quality products–framed prints, folios and eco-friendly desk blocks, as well as high resolution digital files.  


May I share the watermarked proofs online? 

Yes, you may share the watermarked files on social media but you may not print them. If you wish to make prints, please order prints from our product line or purchase additional high resolution files. 

When sharing the images on social media, please keep the watermark intact if possible. If posting on Instagram, tag me :) @adogphotographer


What forms of payment do you accept?

We currently accept all major credit cards, cash or checks. Payment plans are also available.


Once I make my order, when should I expect to receive my print?

Print and product orders take an estimated 4-6 weeks to arrive. A tracking number will be sent when the order ships. We can expedite orders, just let us know when you need it and we’ll do our best to get it to you. 


How do I care for my photographs?

In order to keep your photographs looking great for years to come we recommend framing with archival materials and keeping them out of direct sunlight. For more in depth information about caring for your family archives, visit the National Archives preservation page.
