Sophie is a high energy, joyful pup who knows what she wants. And what she wants is to learn, play and run. Sophie's mom, Kristin, wanted to capture her joyful energy and give her a fun activity to stimulate her brain after the long winter months of quarantine. Plus, she was in the process of moving to a new home and wanted to have some photographs of Sophie to hang on her walls.
Kristin also grew up in Maine and Sophie loves running on the beaches there. When picking the location of the session, I suggested we visit Leesylvania State Park due to its (very small) beach along the Potomac River and wooden hiking trails. It's not even close to the rigid beauty of Maine's landscape (IMO) but it has it's own charm and is a lovely, quiet spot for photography sessions.
We lucked out with perfect spring weather and empty park parking lots. We hit the trails then ended with a little beach time as the sunset. It was my first session back after closing up for the winter and I couldn't have had a better, more fun model and client. It's good to be back.
