The last few months of 2021 got away from me and I ran out of time to post session photos here. I'm sorry about that but here's the thing: After 2 years of navigating a global pandemic and social strife, of working overtime to make sure I keep myself, my staff and my clients safe while moving forward with my business, I was a little burnt. And I feel guilty even saying that. How can someone who loves what she does everyday, who makes her own schedule, who answers only to herself, burn herself out?
Perhaps it's because I care so deeply about what I put out into the world. I care about my clients. I'm really intentional about what I do everyday. I'm not copying the work of other photographers. I have to navigate the boys club of the photography industry with grace, patience and a smile on my face. Oh and the world is on fire. Seriously, the ocean caught on fire last year. What the actual f**k?
What gives me the inspiration to keep moving forward, to find grace and love in the everyday? My dogs, family, friends and wonderful clients.
Also: rest, reflection and self-care.
The thing I'm learning is that in order to truly bring all of yourself to what you do, you need to take care of your soul—Go for a walk. Eat good food. Exercise. Sleep. Build your community with caring, interesting individuals. You know, all those things we keep hearing we're supposed to do—we should actually do.
The good news is it seems to work. I have been prioritizing these things recently and can say, they are working. I feel focused, energized and ready to take on what's next.
So here's a wrap up of photos from 2021 with my incredible clients and their gorgeous dogs—2+ months late but I'm not sweating it. ;)
If you're interested in booking a session with me this spring, I have 2 options available: My classic Lifestyle Photo Sessions or a Limited Edition Spring Pop-Up on April 24th.
